Farum Abogados is born: a multidisciplinary firm in A Coruña with ten practice areas and 24-hour replies
Farum Abogados starts in A Coruña with five professionals from the Guardia Civil, healthcare, teaching and business, and ten practice areas.

Galicia's legal map gains a new actor. Farum Abogados, incorporated as Farum Abogados Torreiro & Santiago S.L., began operating in September 2026 from its office on Praza de Lugo in A Coruña, Bilbao Buenas Noticias reports.
Five professionals, crossed backgrounds
The firm is founded by partners Joaquín Torreiro Vázquez and Cristina Santiago Lista, and its team brings together five professionals with backgrounds unusual for a firm's launch: more than a decade in the national police and Guardia Civil leadership, legal and socio-health training applied to employment and disability, more than 25 years in the medical and hospital technology sector, continuous practice of civil and family law, and corporate financial management.
That combination is designed for matters crossing several branches of law: a sick leave that ends in dismissal, a disciplinary file with criminal consequences, or an accident with healthcare liability. Torreiro, a UNED law graduate with a master's in legal practice from the Universidade da Coruña and the ICACOR bar and a mediator accredited by the Ministry of Justice, coordinates administrative law, military law and security forces. Santiago, a member of the ICACOR with degrees in law and occupational therapy, completes the project's leadership.
Ten practice areas
The firm presents itself with ten practice areas, an unusually broad bet for a five-person team, sustainable precisely because of the diversity of backgrounds: public-safety experience feeds the administrative and criminal areas; the socio-health side, employment, disability and healthcare liability; and the financial background, advice to companies and the self-employed. It is the classic proximity-firm model taken to its most professionalised version.
The chosen location, Praza de Lugo, places the firm in A Coruña's administrative and commercial centre, a few minutes from the city's court complex.
The name: the lighthouse that guides
The name comes from Farum Brigantium, the Latin name of the Tower of Hercules. The firm takes the Roman lighthouse's original function, guiding those who navigate, as a metaphor for how it works with clients who arrive with a problem.
Four client commitments
The firm organises its service around four explicit commitments: informing clients from the start, including about fees; replying within 24 hours by phone or WhatsApp; keeping the client informed at every stage of the matter; and guaranteeing direct contact with the professional handling the case, with no intermediaries.
Why it matters
New firms born outside the big markets say more about the profession than many mergers: they show where lawyers themselves believe demand lies. Farum bets on real multidisciplinarity, not the catalogue kind, and on communication standards (response deadlines, fee transparency, a single point of contact) that client-experience studies have recommended for years and most small firms still do not formalise. That a new firm makes them its central launch argument is a data point about where client expectations are moving.
Whether the model survives the test of demand remains to be seen: service commitments are easy to promise at launch and hard to sustain as the portfolio grows. It will be a good measure of the project's maturity.
The move fits into an autumn of intense corporate activity in the sector, with integrations such as Azenea's and warnings from the Spanish Bar Council about fund entry into law firms, against which the craft-firm model with service standards is the most visible market alternative.
