finReg360 integrates six professionals from Álvaro Requeijo Abogados and strengthens Financial Regulation
The six professionals, each with more than twenty years of experience, strengthen the firm's specialisation in insurance and pensions and expand its litigation, arbitration and dispute-resolution capabilities.

finReg360 has strengthened its Financial Regulation area with the incorporation of six professionals from the law firm Álvaro Requeijo Abogados, Iberian Lawyer reported on 13 October. The move brings Álvaro Requeijo Pascua and Álvaro Requeijo Torcal into the firm alongside four other lawyers, each with more than twenty years of professional experience.
Álvaro Requeijo Pascua joins as counsel and Álvaro Requeijo Torcal as director of the area. They are accompanied by Mercedes Villarrubia, Ana Risco, Pelayo Vidal and Pedro Arévalo, who complete the incoming team.
What the team brings
According to the published information, the hires strengthen finReg360's specialisation in the insurance and pensions sector and expand its capabilities in litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution. The team also brings technical experience in administrative, sanctioning and tax procedures, as well as liability management and legal-risk defence.
The profiles of the two lead hires:
- Álvaro Requeijo Pascua, founder of Álvaro Requeijo Abogados and a State Attorney on leave of absence, has built a long career advising corporations and entities. He founded his own firm in 2002, with a multidisciplinary approach.
- Álvaro Requeijo Torcal joins as director of Financial Regulation, with a career focused on financial regulation and insurance law: oversight and supervision of insurance entities, insurance distribution, pension governance, conduct regulation and savings and investment products.
The statements around the deal
Jorge Ferrer Barreiro, co-founding partner of finReg360, presented the hires as a step in the firm's growth strategy: the incoming team's insurance-sector experience complements the existing financial regulation capabilities while adding specialisation in litigation, arbitration and administrative law. Ferrer noted that the firm had followed and collaborated with this team for years, highlighting a professional and personal fit with finReg360's values.
Álvaro Requeijo Torcal, for his part, stressed that the insurance and pensions sectors face an increasingly complex regulatory environment, where entities need not only rigour on sector-specific rules but also a cross-cutting understanding of all applicable regulation and a practical, business-oriented perspective.
The integrating firm
finReg360 describes itself on its official website as "the firm with the greatest experience in financial sector regulation in our country", with a team of forty lawyers, tax advisers and consultants - from young professionals at the start of their careers to partners and directors with long track records. It is, in other words, a specialist mid-size firm: the arrival of six veteran professionals at once represents a considerable leap in relative scale, and a clear bet on insurance and pensions as a growth axis.
The strategic fit is direct: Álvaro Requeijo Abogados was already working precisely in financial regulation, insurance and litigation, so the integration does not require building a new practice, but reinforcing an existing one with a team that knows the firm and, according to it, had been collaborating with it for years.
Boutique integrations, a growing route
The move follows a familiar pattern in the Spanish market: a specialised firm integrates a whole boutique team instead of hiring piecemeal, gaining in one stroke a consolidated practice and its client book. It is the same logic as the team moves we cover in Big firms and lateral hires, like the recent Osborne Clarke hire of an entire real estate team from Baker McKenzie, although in this case the deal absorbs practically an entire firm founded in 2002.
For professionals in the insurance and financial regulation sectors, these integrations usually also mean team movement and new positions, something we follow every day in the verified legal job offers selection of our Legal jobs section.
