Review remains with the lawyer
The initial focus is commercial real estate transactions. The technology prepares drafts, reviews contracts and proposes changes; lawyers retain responsibility for deciding on and approving the result.
The affiliated firm, Athena Circle, charges a fixed price per transaction. The company reports twenty-two clients in its first two months and fees between 30 and 50% below what those clients paid on recent transactions. That comparison is not an established discount against the entire market.
It also claims to have reduced review time by more than 70% during its first six weeks. These are company metrics, with no independent evaluation supplied in the report.
Co-founders Cem Ucan and Kieran John Keenan met at Legora. The announcement presents the round as support for a model integrating technology and service rather than solely selling a tool to outside firms. Its development will need to be judged by subsequent results, not only the initial savings announced.
