Law firm Lawesome has advised on two new investment and financing deals in the technology sector: the 1.5 million euro round of InspectRail, a rail-monitoring company based on artificial intelligence, and the entry of Enagás Emprende into the capital of digHy, a Galician software startup for renewable hydrogen projects. Both transactions required multidisciplinary teams with special involvement of the Venture Capital and Intellectual and Industrial Property areas, Lawyerpress reports.

InspectRail: 1.5 million for AI on the tracks

InspectRail, a company spun out of the CEIT technology centre, has closed a 1.5 million euro round combining equity contributions and debt financing. The equity tranche saw the participation of Gestión de Capital Riesgo del País Vasco (Grupo SPRI), EASO Ventures, Pinama Capital and EONIQ Fund, while the debt was backed by Deeptek Gipuzkoa Fundazioa, Elkargi, Fomento San Sebastián, CaixaBank DayOne and Rural Kutxa.

The company has developed a solution combining computer vision, advanced sensors, artificial intelligence and on-device data processing (edge computing) to monitor the state of tracks, catenary and other rail infrastructure elements, aiming to facilitate early incident detection and improve predictive maintenance strategies. The funds obtained will allow it to expand the development and commercialisation of the technology and advance its international expansion.

Lawesome's legal team in this deal consisted of Antonio Castro Donaire and Paloma Heres Fernández-Ladreda, from the Venture Capital area, and Eugenia Hinojal Cuadrado and Sofía Amat Samaranch, from Intellectual and Industrial Property.

Enagás Emprende enters digHy

The second deal is Lawesome's advice to Enagás Emprende on its strategic investment in digHy, whose amount has not been disclosed. The entry of Enagás's vehicle will allow the Galician startup to count on an industrial partner contributing capital and sector knowledge to boost its technology development and commercial expansion.

digHy has developed a software platform for designing renewable hydrogen installations and their derivatives, within the field known as Power-to-X. Professionals from the Intellectual and Industrial Property and Labour areas also took part in both deals.
