SCALA is starting with a defined focus: advice to regulated financial businesses and participants in capital markets. Arpine Abgaryan and Miguel Sánchez lead the new firm, which is based in Madrid and has a presence in Barcelona, according to Lawyerpress.

Two backgrounds for a specialist practice

The founders each bring more than fifteen years in practice. Abgaryan has held legal management and compliance roles within an international financial group. Sánchez has led a capital markets practice at an international law firm and worked on equity and debt transactions.

The services cover entity authorisations, supervised activities, payments and asset management. Transactional work includes stock market operations and issues, alongside ongoing advice to listed companies and their governing bodies.

The firm also announces compliance and anti-money-laundering work. For matters requiring other specialisms or jurisdictions, it plans to work with other firms while retaining coordination of the engagement. These are the areas and model announced at launch, not established commercial results.
