The Legal Profession launches a digital justice course and champions continuing training in Cádiz
The General Council of the Spanish Legal Profession has presented a twelve-hour digital justice course, organised in six sessions running until 1 December. It announced it a few days after holding in Cádiz its 41st Technical Training Conference, focused on continuing training.

Two October events of the General Council of the Spanish Legal Profession centre on training. On the 8th it opened in Cádiz its 41st Technical Training Conference of the Legal Profession, and on the 15th it announced a specialised digital justice course.
The digital justice course
According to the Spanish Legal Profession, the course lasts twelve hours and has a practical approach, and is organised in six sessions, on Tuesdays, until 1 December 2026. Its aim, according to the note, is for lawyers to work securely and confidently before courts, tribunals and public administrations in the digital environment.
The contents
The Council's note groups the contents into three blocks:
| Block | Topics |
|---|---|
| Fundamentals | Electronic court file, digital notifications, remote proceedings, system interoperability and European digital justice platforms |
| From electronic to digital justice | Data-oriented processing, digital rights and obligations and digital access to justice |
| Tools | LexNET, the Electronic Court Portal, Carpeta Justicia and access to hearing recordings |
According to the Legal Profession, it is taught by Francisco Cabo, Alfredo Sánchez-Rubio, Miguel Hermosa, Nuria Aguilar, María Jesús Fraile, Cristina Gutiérrez del Álamo, Enrique Centeno and Laura Fra.
The note does not state the format, registration requirements or price, and refers to an information and registration link. Anyone interested should check registration conditions and the session calendar at that link. It also recalls that the earlier Upro Programme trained more than 25,400 lawyers in digital skills.
Why it comes now
The course coincides with the rollout of the first-instance courts, in which the Legal Profession itself has pointed to the electronic court file as one of its concerns, as we reported in the news item on the Legal Profession's proposals for the first-instance courts.
The Cádiz Technical Training Conference
The 41st Technical Training Conference of the Legal Profession brought together in Cádiz, on 8 and 9 October, representatives of bar associations, legal practice schools, teachers and professionals. According to the Spanish Legal Profession, the topics were:
- Continuing training as the core of the profession.
- Good practices from different bar associations.
- The quality of training, mentoring of trainees, course organisation and public speaking.
- Artificial intelligence applied to training.
- Proposals to improve the course and the entrance exam for the profession.
At the opening, according to the note, the Council's president cited some training figures from the previous year: more than 2,000 enrolled in the compliance course, more than 7,000 participants in the housing course and more than 23,000 professionals trained in the courses on the efficiency law.
What it means for lawyers
For the practising lawyer, digital training has immediate usefulness: the electronic file, notifications and remote hearings are part of daily work. For those not trained in these tools, a practical twelve-hour course spread over six sessions is a reasonable investment, because it lets you apply what you learn in each session to the following days' work.
The Legal Profession also stresses training in artificial intelligence, where its own White Paper found an important gap among those who answered its survey, as we discuss in the editorial on AI training for lawyers. And the debate on the entrance exam, which was also discussed in Cádiz, we address in the editorial on the entrance exam for the legal profession.
Before enrolling, it is wise to check in the course's official information which sessions are still to be held and whether they can be followed independently, to make the most of those that best suit each firm's work.
