Danish startup Pandektes has announced a 13.5 million euro Series A led by Alstin Capital, with participation from PROfounders, Scale Capital and investors already backing the company. The announcement was published on October 5, 2026 on the company's corporate blog.

Pandektes, founded by Casper Laursen and Søren Brokær, runs a platform that collects, structures and connects legal information: legislation, court decisions and administrative and regulatory material. According to the company, more than 500 law firms, companies and public institutions use the platform less than two years after launch, and around two thirds of the organizations that try it become customers.

From legal search engine to data layer

The company's argument is that traditional legal research rested on large publishing organizations and decades of accumulated infrastructure, which produced a market with high entry barriers and few incentives to change. Pandektes argues that artificial intelligence now makes it possible to do much of that work continuously: collecting new sources, classifying documents, tracking amendments and connecting decisions to each other.

The company does not want to stop at replacing the classic search platforms. Its stated goal is to become a legal information data layer on which other companies, law firms, courts or public administrations build their own systems. Along those lines, Pandektes announces that it will open up its API further, so third parties can access that infrastructure instead of rebuilding the data layer from scratch.

The reasoning is direct: a legal AI system is only as good as the information underneath it. If the data is incomplete, out of date or disconnected from its original source, a better interface or a more capable model does not solve the problem.

One more round in an autumn of legaltech funding

The Pandektes deal joins a series of rounds announced in recent weeks in the sector. In Denmark, SmallClaims closed a 2 million euro seed round to automate small claims with AI agents. In the United States, Arceus announced 17 million dollars for its AI-native law firm, and in Belgium Falcon AI raised 1.5 million in pre-seed funding with a similar model.

The common pattern is that capital is flowing both to tools for lawyers and to legal services that use AI in their own production. Pandektes belongs to the first group and is also trying to position itself as the provider of the infrastructure on which other products in the sector would run.

What comes next

The announcement does not detail the exact split of the capital between product, hiring or geographic expansion. It does state that the round will let it advance toward that structured legal information infrastructure, consistent across jurisdictions, continuously updated and ready for AI agents and other automated systems.

For law firms, the practical interest lies in two points: replacing legacy research platforms, which the company itself acknowledges as part of its current business, and the possibility that future internal tools will rely on its API instead of proprietary databases.
