SmallClaims raises 2 million euros to automate court claims with AI agents

The Copenhagen company chains specialized agents that take a small claim from analysis to enforcement. It already operates in Denmark and Sweden and is preparing the leap to larger European markets.

Danish startup SmallClaims has closed a 2 million euro seed round led by Finnish fund Vendep Capital, which confirmed it on its own blog. The company, based in Copenhagen, wants to expand its automated litigation platform for small claims across Europe.

The problem it tackles is economic: many companies give up on claiming unpaid invoices because the cost of lawyers and administration exceeds the amount in dispute. Vendep puts the claims of this kind piling up in the European Union at more than 930 billion euros a year. SmallClaims founder Christian Olson, a lawyer and former head of legal at Too Good To Go, sums it up this way: the court system was built for a time when a lawyer sat down with every case, something that works for a million-euro dispute but not for a 2,000 euro invoice.

What the platform does

SmallClaims chains specialized AI agents that take a case from legal assessment and negotiation through to court filing, judgment and enforcement. According to the investor, a file that required more than 15 hours of legal work is now resolved in around 1.5, with human review and legal representation when the case reaches a hearing. The company claims to win more than nine out of ten cases.

Its client base exceeds 500 customers, including debt collection agencies, law firms and companies with a high volume of unpaid invoices, and it processed more than 3,200 cases in 2025, according to Mundo Startups. The model combines no-win-no-fee, subscriptions and integrations with financial and invoicing systems.

Vendep explains that the business rests on a difference of scale: a traditional claims handler processes between 30 and 60 cases a month, while a handler supervising agents can move thousands. The fund also stresses that you do not get to litigate with a quick prototype: you need processes, legal knowledge and infrastructure connected to the courts.

What comes with the capital

The company already operates in Denmark and Sweden. Over the next 12 to 24 months it wants to complete the agent chain (today they assess the claim and prepare the court case; filing, follow-up, mediation and collection are still missing) and pick a couple of much larger European markets where it would compete with strong local players. The founder's goal for this round is to prove the platform works country after country, not only in Denmark.

The capital will also go to product and hiring, with the challenge of adapting automation, language and procedural rules in each jurisdiction.

Fit in the legaltech map

SmallClaims is the litigation face of a trend that this autumn is also running through transactional work. Belgium's Falcon AI, with a 1.5 million pre-seed round, and the US firm Arceus, with 17 million dollars, apply agents to contract review with lawyers signing off the result. All three sell the finished work, not the tool. At the other end, those building the data infrastructure for these systems, such as Pandektes and its 13.5 million Series A, complete the map.

Sources and limits

The round amount and the lead investor appear on Vendep Capital's official blog. The figures for hours per file, success rate, customers and cases processed come from the investor and the specialist press and are company statements, without independent verification. The figure of 930 billion euros in annual claims in the EU is cited by Vendep without detailing its calculation. No valuation associated with the round is on record.
