Legora raises $550 million at an $8.8 billion valuation to accelerate its North American expansion
The company, with more than $200 million in recurring revenue, doubles its April valuation and steps up its race with Harvey for the global legal AI market.

Legora, the Swedish startup building artificial intelligence for legal work, announced on Wednesday 21 October a $550 million Series E round (about €490 million) that lifts its post-money valuation to $8.8 billion (about €7.83 billion). Led by Atreides Management, the deal cements the company as one of the leading players in the global legal AI market, in a head-to-head race with its closest competitor, Harvey. Euro equivalents are approximate, based on the ECB reference rate of 21 October 2026 (EUR 1 = USD 1.1234).
According to the company's official announcement, the round adds new investors Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners and J.P. Morgan alongside lead investor Atreides. Every major existing backer returned: Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Insight Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Sands Capital.
From $1 million to $200 million ARR in two years
The figures behind the deal explain the valuation. Legora went from $1 million to $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in under 18 months, and the next $100 million took less than six. ARR now stands above $200 million (about €178 million), double the figure disclosed in April, when the company extended its Series D by $50 million at a $5.6 billion valuation.
Founded in 2023 and launched in October 2024, Legora already employs more than 1,000 people across 18 offices and says more than 140,000 legal professionals at over 2,400 law firms and in-house legal teams use its platform in more than 80 markets.
The weight of the US market
The United States is now Legora's largest market by revenue: more than half of the AmLaw 50 are customers, even though its first US office opened only in spring 2025. The new capital will fund further expansion across North America, where it operates offices in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto and Mexico City, and deeper investment in product. The company describes its platform as an "agentic operating system" for legal professionals and is preparing new capabilities for agentic in-take, horizon scanning and legal research.
A notable data point for corporate legal departments: in-house teams, a small fraction of the customer base a year ago, accounted for more than 40% of new customers in the third quarter.
The race with Harvey
The round comes barely a month after Harvey, its main rival, announced its own $550 million raise (≈ €490 million) at a $15.5 billion valuation (≈ €13.8 billion), as TechCrunch notes. The two companies concentrate most of the capital flowing into legal AI and set the pace of a market still attracting significant rounds: this week we covered the 2026 legaltech funding report and recent deals such as Pandektes' €13.5 million Series A and Arceus' €17 million round. We previously covered Harvey's bet on agent-based work orchestration.
CEO and co-founder Max Junestrand said the opportunity in legal "is enormous and we are still early", and framed the investor selection around long time horizons. CFO David Eckstein stressed that the company wants growth with healthy gross margins and high retention.
What it means for law firms in Spain
For the Spanish market, the deal confirms two trends. The first is consolidation: capital is concentrating in a handful of global platforms with enterprise-grade support, raising the bar for new generalist entrants and pushing national legaltechs towards specialisation or integration. The second is the shift from assistant to agent: big rounds no longer fund legal chatbots but full workflows executed by agents, a shift also visible in the Tirant Prime 2026 study on Spanish lawyers' AI use.
