The Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) will host the V Congress on Digital Assets and Artificial Intelligence in the Financial Sector on 26 and 27 November at its headquarters in Calle Serrano 9, according to the sections' congress agenda published on its website.

The congress arrives at a moment of maximum regulatory activity for the digital financial sector: the application of the MiCA Regulation to crypto-assets, the progressive deployment of the European AI Act in financial decision systems and the supervision of new operators have turned the intersection between digital assets and AI into one of the fastest-growing practices for Madrid-based firms.

A packed autumn agenda at Serrano 9

The V Congress on Digital Assets closes a particularly intense autumn cycle at the bar's headquarters. Before it, on 5 and 6 November, the II Congress on Family and Succession will be held, and on 19 and 20 November the VIII National Consumer Congress will take place, both also at C/Serrano 9. The full programming and each congress's programme are published on the ICAM sections' website, where registration is managed.

The ICAM sections' congresses have consolidated as one of the reference formats for the specialised training of Madrid's legal profession, with the added advantage of concentration: several annual sessions per specialty in the same venue, which makes it easier to plan attendance by practice area.

Why this congress matters to firms

This year's thematic combination (digital assets, AI and the financial sector) touches three fronts already present in daily practice: advising crypto-asset platforms and custodians, reviewing scoring and automated decision systems in financial entities, and defence in sanctioning proceedings where algorithmic traceability is the central evidence. It is the same intersection we analyse in our legal AI section and that is reconfiguring firms' banking and finance teams, as we have been reporting in major law firms.

For lawyers with a financial or technology practice, the double session at the end of November is an opportunity for concentrated updating and contact with the specialty; we recommend checking the final programme and registration conditions on the ICAM sections' page before planning attendance.

In our events agenda we will keep collecting the relevant appointments for the profession, including collegiate sessions of other districts.

Family, consumer and digital assets: the sections' autumn

The II Congress on Family and Succession will address a practice that concentrates a good part of mid-sized firms' activity, from break-ups with business assets to international succession planning, while the VIII National Consumer Congress will review recent case law on collective claims, advertising and digital contracting. Between the three congresses, November's offer covers three of the specialties with most training demand in the Madrid bar, in a face-to-face format that keeps the weight of courtroom work and direct contact between speakers and attendees.

Registration is processed through the bar's electronic headquarters, with a reduced fee for members and free access for students of the legal practice schools. Attendance at these congresses counts as accredited continuing education, an additional incentive in a year in which the bar has expanded its catalogue of activities.
