Legal Tech Expo 2026 takes place on 18 and 19 November 2026 at IFEMA MADRID. According to the venue's official information, the fair is devoted to technology and artificial intelligence tools for the legal sector, and to how law firms adapt their processes and business models. It is held alongside Accountex and HR Expo, two fairs focused on business management, advisory firms and human resources.

For a firm that is considering changing its management software, adopting AI tools or preparing to adapt its invoicing, it is a chance to see several solutions in one place. Here are the practical details and some recommendations for getting the most out of it.

Practical details

  • Dates: 18 and 19 November 2026.
  • Venue: IFEMA MADRID. The published information does not agree on the hall number, so it is worth confirming it on the official website before going.
  • Access: free for sector professionals who register.
  • Audience: professionals only. IFEMA cites, among others, law firms, advisory and consulting firms, administrative agencies and company management and finance departments. The general public and minors are not admitted.
  • Registration: through the fair's official website, in the visitors section.
  • Opening hours: had not been published in the sources consulted at the date of this article.

What you can find

The official website describes three strands:

  1. Exhibition area, with software demonstrations and solutions for legal practice and firm management.
  2. Training programme, with sessions on current topics.
  3. Networking between professionals and suppliers.

There is one important detail about the sessions: according to IFEMA, places cannot be booked in advance. They are allocated on a first-come basis on the day, and it is recommended to arrive about ten minutes before each session.

How to prepare your visit

Before going

  • Define the problem you want to solve. Invoicing, case file management, document review, legal research or client service. Going with a short list saves time.
  • Check the list of exhibitors when it is published and mark those that fit your need.
  • Look at the training programme and note the sessions that interest you, bearing in mind that they cannot be booked.

At the stands: questions worth asking

Demonstrations tend to show the best of each product. These questions help assess what you cannot see:

  1. Data and professional secrecy. Where is the data hosted? Is it used to train models? Can this be switched off by contract?
  2. AI Act. How does the provider meet the European Regulation's transparency obligations on generated content? We explain this in the new AI Act timetable.
  3. Invoicing. If the software issues invoices, will it be adapted to the invoicing systems regulation before the 2027 deadlines? We review them in our guide to Verifactu for lawyers.
  4. Source verification. If the tool generates legal texts, how does it link to the sources so the lawyer can check them? Courts have already sanctioned filings with invented citations, as we report in our analysis of the sanctions for fake case law generated by AI.
  5. Exit. How is data exported if the firm stops using the service?
  6. Total cost. Licences, implementation, training and support, not just the monthly fee.

After the fair

Ask in writing for the contractual terms and technical documentation of the solutions that interest you. Compare at least two options against the same criteria before deciding.

Who it makes sense for

The fair is especially suited to small and medium-sized firms that do not have an innovation department and want to compare tools in person. Its coincidence with Accountex also lets you see management and accounting solutions that matter to advisory firms too.

In Events we keep the agenda of events for the legal profession. The next big institutional date has already been announced: the 14th National Congress of the Spanish Legal Profession, in Toledo in October 2027. If you organise an event for lawyers, you can send us the information through the "Submit news" form.
