The II ICAM Family and Succession Law Conference will bring the discipline's top judges to Madrid on 5-6 November
Eight round tables over two in-person days, focused on the case law that will shape practice in 2026 and the impact of AI, promoted by the bar's largest section.

The Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) will hold the II Family and Succession Law Conference on 5 and 6 November 2026, at its Madrid headquarters and in a fully in-person format, according to the event's official website.
The conference, now in its second edition, is promoted by ICAM's Family and Childhood Section, the bar's largest with more than 5,300 registered members, and is designed as a specialised forum for updating, debate and networking for family lawyers. The thematic focus: the case law keys that will shape Family and Succession practice in 2026, with special attention to the impact of artificial intelligence on legal practice.
Eight round tables with Supreme Court and appellate judges
The programme is structured in eight round tables spread over two days, from 9:00 to 19:00 on the first day and from 9:00 to 14:00 on the second, with speakers from the top of the discipline's judiciary. Among the names confirmed by the organisation are José Luis Seoane Spiegelberg, judge of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court; Juan Pablo González del Pozo, retired judge specialising in Family Law; María Dolores Planes and Emelina Santana, judges of the Madrid Provincial Court; Jesús María Ricardo Serrano Sáez, judge of the Civil Section of the Madrid Instance Court; Arturo Merino Gutiérrez, judge of the disability and support provision courts; and Rocío Nieto Centeno, sitting judge of the Madrid Instance Court, among others.
Academic direction and moderation are handled by professionals from the section, with ICAM's deputy dean and the president of the Family and Succession Section leading the organisation.
Why it matters for daily practice
Family law is one of the disciplines with the highest litigation volume and case law novelty: paternal-filial measures, custody, child support, division of marital property, contested successions and support provision concentrate much of the activity of civil courts. A programme built around recent case law, told by those who issue it, is a direct updating opportunity for practitioners in the field.
The attention to AI's impact also connects with the line we follow in our Legal AI section, from source verification to usage policy in the firm.
What to expect from the panels
With eight round tables over two days, the format allows depth without a marathon: each block combines the judicial view with forensic practice, and the presence of instance, appellate and Supreme Court judges offers the complete reading of a matter's journey. For family lawyers, it is a concentrated way to update criteria in a year of intense case-law production.
An in-person format designed for networking
The organisation stresses the fully in-person character of the meeting: two days at the bar's headquarters with exclusive presentations and spaces for direct contact with speakers and sector professionals. For a discipline as cohesive as family law, where referring matters between colleagues is everyday practice, the networking component is not an accessory: it is part of the conference's value.
The profession's events agenda
This conference adds to an intense autumn: the III ICAM-ICAB In-House Counsel Meeting, the Legal Tech Expo 2026 at IFEMA and the XIV National Congress of the Legal Profession in Toledo 2027. The full agenda, in our Events section.
Registration and the full programme are available on the conference's official website.
